I have heard nothing but amazing things about this place so I figured I'd give it a try. We were the only people there in the restaurant side so I figured that we'd get pretty exceptional service. WRONG. The waitress was very rude and looked at us like we didn't belong there. So we figured maybe she was just having a bad day. WRONG. She didn't offer us any refills on our drinks, came around only twice. Once to take the orders and once to bring the check. I ordered the maple chicken wings and they were awful. Tasted of old grease, burnt hair, and a slight hint of Aunt Jemima. The kids ordered chicken fingers. Those were burnt to the point of almost being inedible. They also ordered a personal pizza, which was a two dollar Tombstone from Shur Fine. Another interesting flavor experience there was the Ketchup. It was so old that it had pickled itself into a thick soupy disaster. I have nothing positive to say about this place at all. However, maybe if you a "regular" there you get treated like a human being and served edible food. I did notice the waitresses demeanor completely change when other patrons she recognized arrived. TWO THUMBS WAY DOWN.
We went for our 5th wedding anniversary. Tried calling the day before, no answer, left a message. Tried calling a few times today, still no answer. Service was awful, had to ask for our appetizer 20+ mins after it was ordered, was flavorless and Luke warm, tiny for the price. Dinner finally came almost 35 mins and was less than impressive. The steak had no seasoning, the potato's were from a box, and the seafood was clearly frozen at some point. We were never checked on, and the hostess clearly was avoiding us based on how she took care of every other table but us. Only good thing was the crab cluster was cooked perfect. Will not be returning.
Shunk's has been one of my favorite places to eat for many years. You walk into this country bar/restaurant that isn't anything fancy, but when you get your food you will be blown away at how amazing it is. These are the best burgers in Western NY, homemade sides like coleslaw and macaroni salad, steaks that melt in your mouth, and amazing seafood. And the prices are so low and the portions are HUGE. I can eat A LOT, and when I go to Shunk's I can just barely finish all that great food. People are nice there and the service is usually top notch. Again, the low prices, huge portions, second to none quality of the meals makes this one of my favorite places to eat in the Buffalo area.
First time visit as recommend by a friend. Went for lunch. Price point is spot on. Amazing food, friendly service great atmosphere, all for a reasonable price. I had the open face ribeye smothered with onions and peppers with melted cheese. Tender and juicy cooked just as ordered. Came with a hearty pile of fries. My fiance got the chicken sandwich with modifications. No bun, instead on a bed of lettuce. The kitchen was very attentive and got it perfect. Sounds simple but you would be surprised other establishments mess up orders with dietary modifications. We had a party of 4. I would continue with our order but you get the point. Great experience. ALMOST forgot...get a slice of peanut butter pie. Got ours to go cause we were too full to eat it. We will definitely return!
All of the food I've had here is great. The peanut butter pie is amazing. Me and the wife get fish fry often
